We are a small scale operation and therefore we will not always have the time or money to release everything we want to. Fortunately, a lot of the artists we speak to are willing to have tracks featured here in our free download section.
This Month: -
The Hand (Bristol, UK)

Oddly enough, we came accross another hand during our internet travels in november of 2008, this time a folk duo featuring banjo, Kora, haunting male/female vocals and more. Kora player Wig was kind enough to send us a copy of their excellent album “Berries From The Rubble” and it quickly became one of our favourites of the year. We are proud to be able to offer a free download of “Happa Yori” and actively encourage you to listen to more of their stuff on myspace. The vocal and banjo elements may remind some listeners of a slightly less aggressive Foxface. We absolutely love the “Berries” album, so take a telling!

Commander Keen (Glasgow, UK)

Weird sort of post rock/folk music with electronic elements featuring the bitter and confused man behind only pretend… This month we can offer you a free download from the forthcoming Commander Keen release “Extended Player II”. The second track from the E.P., “Lying In The Dark” is a funny one, but we like it very much . Keep an eye on this site for a release date for the full E.P, more of which can be heard on myspace.

The Only Pretend Download Archive
Where possible, we keep the downloads available indefinately. The list below shows some older downloads that are still available.
October 2008 :
The Hand (Glasgow, UK)/ Coloquix (Leeds, UK)

Two very different electronic acts comprised our first free download back in October, please enjoy the slick beats and warm folky sounds of the hand and the glitchy synthesised sounds of Coloquix.
